They filmed without log sheets, clapperboards or slates!
Korban 2 featured numerous scenes filmed in restaurant kitchens between shifts. That didn’t leave much time for filming, and health and safety regulations meant just 2 crew members could be present.
The team turned to ChopChop to work around these constraints.
ChopChop’s workflow was implemented to enable filming without slates, thus saving time and manpower on set.
While filming without slates usually guarantees disaster in post, the editors found to their delight that ChopChop’s software synced and sorted each day’s footage in under 60 seconds, saving hours of manual preparation.
I didn’t have to scrub the clips one by one, I just had to clean up human errors. Like, sometimes video and audio would be off sync by 1 or 2 frames. But that’s nothing compared to the amount of time it saved.
Rapid rough cuts
Footage was delivered to the post-production suite after each shooting day.
Thanks to ChopChop’s rapid processing, the editors could complete a rough cut of that day’s material and send it to the director while the crew was still in the field. This immediate feedback allowed the director to review the coverage and plan adjustments or pick-ups for the following day’s shoot.
I would be on set and suddenly I would receive rough cuts of sequences we had just filmed. It moved the timeline forward by days.
