Timecode tutorial
Chop Chop Sync and Bin uses timecode to organise and sync files. The timecodes of video and audio recording devices must be jam synced during shoot. This can be done in 3 easy steps.
Step one: generate a master timecode.
Use your sound mixer to generate a master timecode which the cameras can follow.
If your sound mixer cannot do this, you can generate master timecode using a timecode
box.
Step Two: jam sync timecode boxes
You will need one additional timecode box for each camera. Jam sync each timecode box to the master timecode that’s being generated.
Step Three: attach one timecode box to each camera
If you are generating timecode from your sound mixer, attach one synced timecode box to each camera. Now, every time you roll cam, the video files recorded will have exactly the same timecode as the audio files.
If you are generating timecode from a timecode box, attach this timecode box to your audio recorder. Attach your other synced timecode boxes to your cameras. Now, when you roll cam, the video files recorded will have exactly the same timecode as the audio files.
